Beachy Waves How To

Here’s how to get beachy waves without hitting the beach.  This easy and sexy look for summer can be done overnight or with heated styling tools. You can even make your own salt water spray and get all day waves without applying heat. Keep reading for more beach waves hair instructions.

A salt water spray is the key to this easy hairstyle. Just combine the ingredients in a spray bottle and shake. Use warm to hot water so the salt dissolves.

  • 8 oz warm water
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt – the finer, the better
  • 1 tsp conditioner – coconut scented will add a beachy scent
  • 1/2 tsp hair or aloe vera gel (preferably unscented)

Apply salt water spray to damp hair. Start at the roots and middle of the hair and use fingers to work spray through to the ends. You can’t use too much so apply the spray liberally. If your hair is frizzy or dry at the tips, add a small amount of anti-frizz or curl cream for extra moisture. This also adds to the piecey effect. Last, scrunch up hair to encourage the curl.

There are a few options for drying hair – with or without heat. If air drying hair, sunlight will add more wave. You can also blow dry with a diffuser and add extra waves. Wrap random strands around the barrel of a clipless curling iron. Curl more from root to the middle, leaving ends free. This adds to the natural and windswept look. For extra hold, spritz with hair spray.

For an even easier way to get sexy beach waves, try the overnight method. Like before, spray damp hair thoroughly with salt water spray. Then French braid pigtails or tightly coil hair into a bun at the top of the head, whichever you can sleep better with. You will wake up the next morning with gorgeous loose beachy waves that last all day. This is a great way to get the look for thin straight hair without any heat damage. For more staying power, add more beach spray as a final touch.
